Job Summary:

Under direction of the Treatment Process Planner, the Water Treatment Process Technician III assists with the operation and maintenance of all water quality instrumentation and analyzers, collects and analyzes water quality and sludge samples, maintains records of work performed, and performs pertinent data entry. Additionally, they assist the Treatment Process Planner and/or the Water Treatment Process Technician I in the evaluation of new water treatment methods, techniques, and equipment. The position also works cooperatively with laboratory staff, control room operators, and maintenance staff to maintain a productive work environment and to achieve production and water quality goals. Cross-training with our control room operators will be performed to allow the Treatment Process Technician to cover the position of Assistant Plant Operator. Work Performed:

  • Adheres to and promotes the Company safety and security policies and practices as it pertains to the job.
  • Perform manufacturer specified standards verification of all instrumentation and analyzers at all production facilities including:
    • The 55 MGD CJO Water Treatment Plant consisting of the pre-treatment chemical addition, coagulation and flocculation, up-flow clarification (Super Pulsators), ozone generation and application, conventional gravity filtration, chlorine generation and application, and post-treatment chemical addition processes.
    • The 12 MGD Park Avenue Water Treatment Plant, consisting of the sequestration, packed tower aeration, granular activated carbon adsorption, and chlorine addition for 4-log inactivation processes.
    • All remote production locations including wholesale interconnections and distribution storage tanks.
  • Accurate and detailed record keeping of standards verification data and entry of verification results.
  • Perform basic maintenance to instrumentation including but not limited to flushing of sample lines, replacing in-line filters, and changing reagents.
  • Perform basic field troubleshooting of instrumentation. Coordinate with the senior Water Treatment Process Technicians and the Treatment Process Planner for all other repairs.
  • Collect up-flow clarifier sludge samples and backwash clarifier sludge samples for analysis.
  • Assist the senior Water Treatment Process Technicians or the Treatment Process Planner with jar testing for process control.
  • Cross train with the control room opertors to be able to fill the role of assistant control room operator.
  • Utilize Oracle/WACS for timekeeping and work requests.
  • Performs other related duties as required by their supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to complete the pre-requisite coursework to qualify for the NJDEP Treatment Operator Level I (T-1) license within 2 years.
  • Valid NJ driver’s license.
  • Ability to keep neat and accurate records.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $47,878 – $71,817 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
